Active Iron Ferrous Sulfate 14mg Capsules

• Adults and children over 12 years, take 1 capsule once daily with water or fruit juice. Take on an empty stomach if possible. Avoid taking with milk, tea, coffee, or antacids. Leave at least 2 to 3 hours between this product and levothyroxine, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, bisphosphonates, or penicillamine. Not for children under 12 years. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this dose is acceptable, but check if you also take other iron products. If in doubt, follow the leaflet or pharmacist advice.

• Per capsule: Ferrous sulfate 38 mg, providing Iron 14 mg. Excipients of known effect, whey (milk) protein. Other excipients, hypromellose capsule shell, sodium acetate, acetic acid, ascorbic acid, polysorbate 20, colourants titanium dioxide, yellow iron oxide, black iron oxide. Pack size, 30 capsules. Contains milk.

Common effects include nausea, stomach upset, constipation or diarrhoea, and dark stools. Stop and seek advice if you get a rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, severe abdominal pain, or vomiting. Do not take if you have iron overload conditions such as haemochromatosis, or if you receive regular blood transfusions, unless a doctor tells you to. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before use if you have stomach or bowel disease, ulcers, or take the medicines listed above. Keep out of sight and reach of children, iron overdose can be harmful.
